George Economou received the B.S. degree in Physics from the University of Patras (UP), Patras, Greece, the M.S. degree in Microwaves and Modern Optics from University College, London, U.K., and the Ph.D. degree in fiber optic sensor systems from UP in 1976, 1978, and 1989, respectively. Currently, he is an Associate Professor of physics with UP. His research interests include signal and image processing, computer vision, biometric recognition, optical signal processing. He has published papers on nonlinear signal and image processing, fuzzy image processing, and fiber optic sensors.
